Emsflower – A Green Experience Near Villapark Eureka

Emsflower is one of Europe’s largest producers of bedding and potted plants. From our three production sites in the Netherlands and Germany, we supply customers all over Europe, primarily on a contract basis.

Plants

We specialize in the large-scale production of bedding and potted plants. Thanks to precise planning and a flexible team, we can deliver large quantities of plants in a short time, always at the optimal stage of growth.

Butterfly Garden

Step into a tropical paradise where more than 1,000 butterflies flutter freely around you. Most originate from Costa Rica and Malaysia, with some impressive species reaching a wingspan of up to 10 cm. In the pupa house, you can witness the magical transformation from chrysalis to butterfly. Comfortable benches invite you to relax, and there is a small play area with a climbing tower for children, making it an ideal outing for families.

Tropical Garden

Explore a lush tropical landscape filled with streams, ponds, and extraordinary plants and animals from around the world. Admire majestic cacti, centuries-old olive trees, colorful parrots, playful meerkats, and lively monkeys. Take a seat in one of the many resting areas and enjoy the surroundings – the tropics have never felt so close.

Tomato Varieties

We produce three different types of tomatoes. The selection of varieties is tailored to the preferences of the German consumer. We grow the “Sweeterno”, a large vine tomato; the “Briso”, a cocktail tomato; and the “Rivolo”, a mini cherry vine tomato.

Regional

Our vegetables are supplied to supermarket chains in the surrounding regions of Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. This keeps transport routes short, ensuring that our products reach the stores fresh while also helping to protect the environment.

Sustainability

At Emsland Gemüse, sustainability is a key priority. We continuously monitor our crops for harmful insects and use biological pest control whenever possible. We rely exclusively on rainwater, which is collected in large reservoirs. Our green heat is generated by a wood-fired combined heat and power unit, making our production both efficient and environmentally friendly.

History

The founding of a small nursery in 1954 by Jan Kuipers marked the beginning of the success story of the Kuipers family business, Emsflower. With the courage and pioneering spirit of the Kuipers family, Emsflower has grown into the European market leader in its field.

Trial Garden

Emsflower has its own trial garden, dedicated to testing new and existing plant varieties for their garden performance. Every three weeks, the plants are evaluated for flowering abundance, flower presentation, plant structure, growth, and vitality. In addition, the plants are photographed every two weeks. By combining these images and data, a detailed logbook is compiled at the end of the season, providing valuable insights for plant suppliers. The trial garden is open to the public and is located at Gartenwelt Emsbüren, Emsflower’s XXL garden center.

Playground and Restaurant

At the heart of the park is a large, covered playground that connects to all themed areas. Surrounded by nature, children can play and explore freely. Meanwhile, the kiosk offers a variety of snacks and drinks, and our adjoining restaurant provides a cozy and welcoming atmosphere for a relaxed meal.
